Let It Read

Hoping things go my way, but if not I tried
At least I've been born-again after I died

Emotions float through me like they're hope
Like a dilapidated shack, I've learned to cope

Weathered the storms, the wind & the rain
Survived the hurt, regret & the pain

Still I sit at the table, hoping my next one will be a better hand
I've made some amazing discoveries like when Columbus first saw land

Like trust Jesus, family & a few close friends
No matter how far you may run... His arm still extends

And people ain't always who they claim to be
Just cause the shackles are off your hands, that doesn't make you free

Finally, people are like birds... they really just want to fly
But many truly don't spread their wings until they die

Speaking of death, it hurts so damn bad when it's unexpected
Made a promise my circle will never again be neglected

Resurrected... no longer dead, my heart is alive & my eyes see
Ain't worried about what people say, I'm just gonna be me

They walk around wearing masks like it's some sort of Masquerade
But please don't show me love when I blow up like a grenade

Or a balloon~ she inflates me... how can she love me so much?
Her fingers should be called a saloon the way I drink up her every touch

When I die, let many things be said, but please don't say I didn't live
Let my epitaph read, here lies the body of a man who laughed, loved, cried, smiled, who was forgiven & knew how to forgive.
